The Jackson Hole real estate market remained strong at the start of the new year. The overall number of transactions increased about 14% and total dollar volume increased 20% when compared to the first quarter of 2016.

The vast majority of transactions took place in the $500,000-$1 million price segment. This was a change from the first quarter of 2016 when transactions were more evenly distributed between the $500,000-$2 million price segment. This change can be attributed to an increase in vacant land transactions, up about 50%. Inventory remained at historical lows, down about 13% when compared to the first quarter of last year.
The number of active listings decreased, down about 13%, and the number of listings under contract decreased about 7% when compared to the first quarter of 2016.
